Bespoke Conservatories in Wiltshire, dorset and hampshire

History of the conservatory

Conservatories were being produced commercially in this country in 1874.  In those days they were mainly destined for country estates and grand houses.  Their use was predominantly to grow exotic fruits and plants whilst providing an architecturally attractive extension.Today however, conservatories are enjoyed for the day to day use and benefits they bring.  This could be to provide additional useful living space or just somewhere to sit back and relax and enjoy views of the garden.  One of the main features generally appreciated is the amount of light a conservatory brings.  This is pleasant even on the gloomiest of winter days.  We now have the benefit of technically advanced glazing, this contributes to making a conservatory more comfortable all year round.  Enhanced insulation, solar control and self-cleaning roof glass, all important features and ones that we include as standard in all our conservatories. Traditional or modern design

Traditional conservatories are normally fully glazed, some can have partly solid side walls but most have a dwarf wall.  These conservatories, being glazed and timber in construction, traditional in style, are particularly suitable for an addition to a listed building.  There are many window style options to choose from to either match an existing property or to just add an attractive design detail.

Tiled roof conservatory extensions (also known as garden rooms) have also become increasingly popular over the last few years.  Having an internally plastered ceiling, they provide more of a room like feel.  The roof can be finished in various options, slate or re-claimed terracotta tiles for example.  The roof can either match your property or become a complimentary feature, the choice is yours.

There are many different designs and styles of conservatories to choose from, our designer will be pleased to offer you advice and help you make your choice.
